‘We are not fooled’ – Major Man City transfer update as Abdukodir Khusanov misses training
Manchester City are in advanced talks to sign Lens defender Abdukodir Khusanov, with the French club confirming negotiations are underway. The 20-year-old is being eyed as a solution to City’s defensive struggles this season.
According to Lens manager Will Still, discussions over Khusanov’s future are progressing rapidly. The Uzbek centre-back missed training earlier this week, sparking speculation about his potential transfer.
Still explained, “He’s sick. He was in the gym today with the others. After that, we’re not going to lie to each other. We know that there are negotiations in progress; things are moving. We’re not fooled.”
Still also noted that Khusanov could feature in Lens’ upcoming fixture against Le Havre if he recovers in time. “For the moment, he’s still here, and if things were to move, you’ll probably know before me. He went home because he’s really sick. If he’s still available, he’ll be in the squad,” he added.
City are reportedly willing to pay between £20-30 million for Khusanov, initially scouted as a long-term prospect. However, Guardiola’s side have fast-tracked their interest to address injuries and inconsistent performances in their defensive ranks.
A deal for Khusanov would provide much-needed reinforcement for City as they look to stabilize their campaign and mount a stronger challenge in the second half of the season.
