Real Madrid midfielder suffers hamstring injury; out for three weeks… Details
Real Madrid’s 5-2 victory over Celta Vigo in the Copa del Rey came with an unfortunate setback, as midfielder Eduardo Camavinga has been ruled out with a hamstring injury. The club confirmed the news through an official statement, revealing that the 22-year-old had sustained a muscle injury in the femoral biceps of his left leg.
According to the club’s announcement, the French international’s recovery timeline is “pending evolution.”
However, journalist Arancha Rodriguez has reported that Camavinga is expected to be sidelined for around three weeks, marking another frustrating spell on the treatment table for the young midfielder.
Camavinga’s season has already been disrupted by injuries. A knee problem sustained just before the UEFA Super Cup in August saw him miss 12 matches for both club and country.
After his return in October, he suffered another muscle issue in November, sidelining him for five games.
This latest setback means Camavinga is set to miss several crucial fixtures. He will be absent from Real Madrid’s upcoming La Liga matches against Las Palmas, Real Valladolid, and RCD Espanyol.
Additionally, he will be unavailable for Los Blancos’ final two UEFA Champions League group-stage encounters against RB Salzburg and Brest, as well as the Copa del Rey quarter-final.
Whether Camavinga will be fit in time for the highly anticipated Madrid derby against Atletico on February 9 remains uncertain.
For now, Real Madrid will need to rely on their depth in midfield as they navigate this challenging period without one of their key players.
