DEAL DONE: Issa Kabore leaves Man City on six-month loan deal… Details

Manchester City’s Issa Kabore has sealed a six-month loan move to Werder Bremen, following the early termination of his season-long loan with Benfica. The Bundesliga side confirmed the deal, which will see the Burkina Faso international bolster their defensive ranks for the remainder of the campaign.

According to Werder Bremen’s head of professional football, Peter Niemeyer, the move was necessitated by injuries and impending changes within their squad. Niemeyer explained, “Issa is a very exciting player who’s got experience in a number of different leagues in different countries despite his young age.

Due to Olivier Deman’s imminent loan move and Felix Agu’s injury, the opportunity has opened up at short notice for us to sign Issa on loan until the end of the season. He fits the profile we wanted perfectly, as he’s flexible and can play on both sides. We’re very happy that we’ve been able to complete this loan signing in such a short time.”

Werder Bremen head coach Ole Werner also expressed his excitement about the move. “I’m very happy that we’ve managed to bring in Issa so quickly and at short notice,” Werner said.

“Issa is a technically good player, is physically strong and also has good pace. His arrival gives us more options for how we want to play. We’re positive that he’ll fit into our team perfectly.”

Kabore himself is eager to embrace this new chapter in his career. The 22-year-old revealed, “I’m really looking forward to my new challenge at Werder and in the Bundesliga. Werder have had a very good season so far. I want to play my part in us building on a strong first half of the campaign, and to get to know the club, the fans and the city.”

Clearly, both club and player view this move as a mutually beneficial opportunity. For Kabore, it’s a chance to gain further experience in one of Europe’s top leagues, while Werder Bremen strengthen their squad depth for a promising second half of the season.
