De Bruyne issue could see Man City enter negotiations for incredible €180m-rated talent – new report

Manchester City could be preparing for one of the biggest moves of the January transfer window as they consider a bid for Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala.

However, the deal is far from straightforward, with the future of Kevin De Bruyne playing a significant role in whether City push ahead with the €180m-rated midfielder.

Of course, City’s current struggles on the pitch have only added urgency to their transfer plans. Pep Guardiola’s side has stumbled again, this time managing only a 1-1 draw against Everton on Boxing Day.

Naturally, this has raised concerns about the squad’s ability to stay competitive, and fresh talent may be the only way to turn things around.

Musiala, widely regarded as one of Europe’s finest young talents, is attracting attention from several major clubs, including Liverpool, Real Madrid, and PSG.

However, City seem particularly keen, with scouts reportedly sent to Bayern games throughout the season to keep a close eye on the 20-year-old.

Obviously, his skill, versatility, and potential fit perfectly into Guardiola’s vision for the future.

However, Bayern Munich are not willing to let their star player go without a fight. Their sporting director, Max Eberl, has confirmed ongoing talks to extend Musiala’s contract, with a reported offer of €25m per year on the table.

Still, a transfer fee of €170m-€180m would make Musiala one of the most expensive signings in football history, and City would need to be absolutely certain of the move before committing.

Initially, City’s interest in Musiala appears tied to De Bruyne’s situation. The Belgian playmaker’s contract is nearing its end, and while he remains a key player, the club may need to look ahead to the next generation of midfield stars.

Certainly, Musiala fits that bill, but securing his services won’t be easy.

Former City captain and now Bayern coach Vincent Kompany is unlikely to take kindly to his old club pursuing one of his team’s brightest talents.

However, Musiala himself has previously expressed interest in playing in the Premier League, which could give City an edge in negotiations.

Obviously, City’s position in the transfer race will depend on several factors, not least their ability to fend off competition from Europe’s elite.

With the January window just days away, Guardiola and his team will need to move quickly if they are serious about landing Musiala.

Whether this bold pursuit pays off remains to be seen, but it’s clear City are ready to make a statement in the market.
