Just In: Crystal Palace Defender on Man City’s Radar as Kyle Walker’s Replacement

Manchester City have set their sights on Crystal Palace’s Daniel Muñoz as they look for a long-term replacement for Kyle Walker ahead of the summer transfer window.

Walker, who had been a key part of City’s defense for seven and a half years, left the Etihad in January to join AC Milan on loan. The Italian giants have the option to make the move permanent for around €5 million this summer.

Despite expressing interest in Juventus’ Andrea Cambiaso, City did not sign a direct replacement in January. That leaves them with ample time to scout the market, and Muñoz has now emerged as a serious target.

According to Antena 2, via Sport Witness, City face competition for Muñoz from Chelsea and Barcelona, but Pep Guardiola is personally driving City’s pursuit of the Colombian right-back.

Muñoz, 28, is reportedly “ready to jump” to another Premier League team but prefers to wait until summer to carefully assess his options. His current contract with Palace runs until 2027, with an option to extend for another year.

For now, City will rely on Matheus Nunes, who has stepped into the right-back role but remains a work in progress defensively. Guardiola will also consider Rico Lewis, Manuel Akanji, and John Stones in that position for the remainder of the season.

With Walker’s permanent exit likely on the horizon, City’s summer rebuild plans are already in motion—and Daniel Muñoz could be a key piece of that puzzle.
