DEAL DONE: Tottenham has now sealed deal for Man City midfielder as medical for the player completed
Manchester City have agreed a six-figure transfer deal with Tottenham Hotspur for Daniel Batty, marking the club’s second academy exit in just a matter of days. The 18-year-old midfielder has already completed his medical, with all details of the move now finalized.
What’s the Deal?
According to Fabrizio Romano, Spurs and City have shaken hands on a £500,000 transfer fee, which includes future add-ons and a sell-on percentage—a sign that City believe Batty could develop into a valuable asset down the line.
From Stalybridge to Spurs – Batty’s City Journey
Raised in Stalybridge, Batty has been part of City’s academy since he was just eight years old, climbing through the ranks to establish himself as a key figure in various midfield setups.
Viewed by City coaches as a creative, attacking midfielder, Batty was expected to be a senior figure for the Under-18s next season after making 11 appearances in 2023/24. However, with Spurs keen to bolster their own youth ranks, the opportunity for a fresh start in North London proved too good to turn down.
City’s Academy Exodus?
This move follows the departure of Seth Chingwaro to Fulham, while Jacob Wright is reportedly close to joining Swansea City. Meanwhile, City are still actively pursuing FC Porto’s Nico Gonzalez as the winter transfer deadline looms.
With Batty’s exit now sealed, Cityzens will be keeping an eye on whether this is just the start of a youth reshuffle, or if Pep Guardiola’s side have a few surprises left before the window closes.
