Man City predicted lineup vs Brentford, Starting XI, Team News – Whoʼs in & Whoʼs out?

Manchester City will aim to extend their winning streak as they visit Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium in what promises to be a tightly contested Premier League fixture.

Pep Guardiola’s men come into the clash on the back of an emphatic 8–0 demolition of Salford City in the FA Cup, marking a dominant start to 2025.

However, their recent Premier League form has been inconsistent, with only two wins in the final months of 2024. Brentford, known for their resilience, will undoubtedly offer a stiffer challenge.

According to reports, Guardiola is expected to field a full-strength lineup after rotating heavily in the FA Cup. Injuries remain a concern for City, with key players like John Stones, Rúben Dias, Rodri, and Oscar Bobb unavailable.

Additionally, Kyle Walker’s uncertain future—following his publicized desire to leave the club—means the veteran defender is unlikely to feature.

Guardiola, however, has plenty of depth to compensate for these absences and will rely on his regular starters to secure the points.

City are predicted to line up in a 4-1-4-1 formation, with Stefan Ortega set to guard the goal after Ederson’s FA Cup outing.

Rico Lewis, the promising 20-year-old, will likely take Walker’s spot at right-back, while Nathan Aké and Manuel Akanji form a solid partnership in central defense.

Aké’s return has been pivotal, with City conceding just twice in their last four games. Joško Gvardiol, fresh from a weekend rest, is expected to take the left-back position.

In midfield, Mateo Kovačić will step in for the injured Rodri, orchestrating play from a deeper role. Kevin De Bruyne, amid swirling MLS transfer rumors, and Bernardo Silva, the captain, are poised to anchor the attacking midfield roles.

On the wings, Phil Foden and Savinho bring dynamism, with Foden contributing two goals and an assist in his last five matches, while Savinho has been in electric form with three assists and a goal in his previous two starts.

Up front, Erling Haaland will lead the line as he continues his pursuit of Mohamed Salah in the Golden Boot race. The Norwegian remains a constant threat, and his performance could prove decisive in breaking down Brentford’s well-organized defense.

Manchester City will need their strongest lineup and sharp focus to overcome a spirited Brentford side. With their sights set on regaining momentum in the Premier League, Guardiola’s men are expected to deliver a statement performance.
