ICYMI: Man City’s coach Pep Guardiola urged Manchester City to sign 22-year-old Dutch defender, Sepp van den Berg, from Brentford.
Reports from Football Transfers confirmed that Manchester City is eyeing Brentford’s defender Sepp van den Berg in their next recruitment. Guardiola is actively giving out names to City’s management, as the club continues to improve their squad.
Apparently: Sepp van den Berg joined the West London club Brentford from Liverpool in August 2024 in a five-year contract worth £25 million. Per Transfermarkt, Berg’s market transfer value is over €18 million.
Given that his contract expires on June 30, 2029, however, a move to Man City next summer, for him, may not be viable. But, anyway, he might be loaned out if City’s offer is well thought out.
Know this about Sepp van den Berg: His most recent appearance was in the match Brentford played against Bournemouth on Saturday, 9 November 2024. Although he recorded 1 foul, 24 passes, and 0 goals in the match, his team won with a clear 3-2 against Bournemouth.
- In the past: On 17, February 2024, Sepp scored the only goal, in what later became a 1–0 win over FC Augsburg
- On December 29, 2023, he scored his first goal for Mainz, an equalizer in a 1–1 Bundesliga draw against Borussia Dortmund
- On August 12, 2023, he made his debut for the club in a DFB-Pokal match against SV Elversberg, coming as a substitute
- On July 13, 2023, Van den Berg joined Mainz 05 on loan for the duration of the 2023–24 season.
For what itʼs worth: Sepp van den Berg was born on December 20, 2001, in Zwolle, Netherlands. He is a Dutch professional footballer, who now plays as a centre-back or right-back for Premier League club Brentford.
What’s more: Sepp has a younger brother Rav van den Berg, who is also a footballer and plays now as a centre-back or right-back for EFL Championship club Middlesbrough. His younger brother was born on July 7, 2004, and is 20 years old in 2024.
